is (for example) "windows for dummies" an infringement?

    if you mention other software in your own webpage for example "photoshop for dummies" or "windows for dummies" is it ok to mention the software and how it works and its features?? sorry if this sounds stupid just want to be sure...thanks for any information

    You are in the clear to use software names in your product descriptions... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nominative_use

    I know you said it was just an example, but putting the "Windows For Dummies" label on a page that describes Windows is off limits since the company who writes those books owns the term. If you were reviewing an actual For Dummies book, then you could of course print the name.

    thanks for the info...i did not plan on using "windows for dummies" it was just an example where other trademarks are mentioned in a product...

    i wouldn't use the "for dummies" in any thing, i am pretty sure it is copyrighted
