Is flash splash page effecting SEO

One of our sites is struggling - its page 1 on bing/ yahoo etc etc but on Google its back on page 4

normally we achieve page 1 for all our sites

Does Google penalise you if you home page is a flash / splash page ?

Could this be effecting all the seo we have done and could anyone suggest a work round to help this page ; link available in signature "liverpool offices"

flash or bad script at the head ( lots of script), song, movie sites are not ranked well in SE.

 

It gets ranked, but not really as high. IT also makes it a pain to update flash pages.

 

Google’s capability to crawl Flash sites is still a work in progress, making a full site in Flash isn’t best for SEO. Here are few tips:

Don’t use Flash as the navigation.
Use Flash for design elements and less-important content, and use HTML for the most important page elements.
Embed Flash files into HTML pages.
Don’t include an entire site in one Flash file. Instead, break the content into multiple Flash files with different HTML pages.
Use descriptive page titles and meta descriptions.

Flash enabled sites can have stunning look, but it may not help to achieve the top position in the search engine. Flash movies have their own links and pages, which the search engine spiders are not able to crawl. The spider identifies only a single page that contains the movies and indexes the content of that single page. This reduces the internal link building in the site i.e. the movie being linked to another scene within itself.

 

Flash Intro = Bad
They do not help your SEO and may only prove to cause damage!

 

If you want to run a site off flash then you will need to have more links than the next guy, basically as simple as that but make sure your descriptions and meta title are well thought out.

 

It's nice to hear...it really hard to updates flash pages....

 

If you've the full front page in Flash then it will definitely affect SEO.

I have "some" flash on my pages & rank #1 for my keywords - but then, the flash is a complement, not the main content. Text is still king for content, if you try to replace it with Flash you will go down the drain very quickly...

 

It's not because of the Flash intro, it's probably because that page only contains a Flash intro. In short, your Flash intro doesn't have any content Google will appreciate to rank you. As long as it's there, you might be in disadvantage.
