    Hi

Wondering which one is better for SEO and SERPs:

Right now, I am using .htaccess for /file-name/ for dynamic generated pages and I was wondering if this is the same as /file-name.htm. I mean with /file-name.htm you have way more "physical" pages on your server.

How does the Search Engine see this??

    No.
/file-name/ will load /file-name/index.htm or /file-name/index.html, /file-name/index.asp, /file-name/default.php or an assortment of other default names.

Referring only to the directory /file-name/ allows you to chage the file name later from index.html to index.php with zero affect on your links or PR.

However you do it, try to be consitent with your links. Always use the trailing slash when referring to the directory.

I think they are both equal in SEO. I have tried both and have seen no faster indexing or ranking "benefits". :p

Usually I do the .html because it is easier for the user to remember if they have to come back to the page. :)
