I looked into feedburner, but I'm unsure as to whether or not I should get it. What is wrong with just linking the RSS image to a subscribe link? It is simple as that. What does feedburner offer otherwise? I have no need for statistics. If that is all it offers, I think I'm going to stick with a linked image for my RSS feed subscription.
I use it for stats..it is pretty unnecessary if you do not want stats also, feedvertising can help monetize your blog if you're really popular
One of the nice things about FeedBurner is that it dramatically cuts down on your traffic. Before I signed up for FeedBurner (on the site in my sig), I was getting thousands of hits to the feed per day (since many people hit the feed every 10-15 minutes), which was putting a heavy load on the shared server. When I redirected all that traffic to FeedBurner, I didn't need to worry about it.
Feedburner is simply the best feed managing service out there. You can do multiple things with them such as auto-redirect feed subscribers etc. Another important thing they offer FAN(feedburner ad network), you will be invited to FAN once you have enuff subscribers. I guess around 500+. I am into FAN for a long time and now have over 4000 subscribers.
And don't forget, that Feedburner is now Google. In the near future, when Google becomes self aware , calling itself simply "Q", it may be wise to have as much of the "Gods" on your side before they control all space and time continuems. Seriously , though...they may have something up their sleeve that will help with your SEO, and Visitors.
well its not necessary google analytics can doa good job , rss feed is also proided by software so no need i used it for a month but i disliked it so removed it
I installed and used it. I noticed that I get a feedburner page, so it is really good for backlinks and SEO. Overall, I'm happy with the transition.
good zac. Trust me it will help you a lot in future. you can count your subscriber numbers and show them off to others. Once you are in FAN, you can make money via feeds.
Feedburner is useful for stats. You get a better idea about your readers. Also you can monetize your site if you're a member of the FAN
Definitely not needed, but still rather useful for stats and the nice chicklet to display subscribers once you get bigger.
I use feedburner for 2 years and it works nice for me. If you want your feed showing more or try to manage its stats, etc you may burn your feed, otherwise you could stay with the default.
