i tried to advertise on Facebook and i found very low CTR. can anyone tell me if it successful and can result in a high CTR?
It can be a successful platform with the right offer. On the PPC-Coach forums i have heard mixed reviews. Those that were successful drilled down their demographics so each target group was very specific. Try not to generalize and have a broad demographic. Just like Adwords you need to be careful with bidding and drum down those demographics to be extremely specific.
We haven't tried Facebook advertising for our company, but I think it will be very effective. How does it work?
Well it depends, it depends on the kind of website your advertising, keep in mind that majority of the population of FaceBook is teenagers, if your product is around this niche then yes, Facebook Advertising is Successful.
I've not used Facebook as an advertising space as yet, so I'm also interested to hear opinions on this.
I've used facebook to advertise my site. It was a local site and I focused my ads for same location. CTR was quite low, but a very high number of impressions/views. With facebook you'll always have lower CTR than say Google ads, because it's more general advertising. Search engine advertising like Google ads are very specific to what someone is looking for and will always be better. I never did test the quality of the clicks I got from facebook compared to google so I can't say whether they are good or not. Best that you have separate landing pages from different sources and test your final conversion. Bottom line - Testing is the best way to answer your question. Try it out with a small budget and see what happens.
Facebook Ads can be a very profitable ad platform if you know how to choose an offer and target well. Here's a Facebook Ads 101 Guide to get you started from basics to pretty advanced targeting options. You can also checkout the Facebook Workplace Targeting post I've written which explains the advanced targeting with Facebook Ads to really profit from it.
Facebook can yield awesome results if you focus on Targeting. Facebook is now pretty high on traffic. Total UV for facebook are less than Google. But, Facebook has pretty high pageviews/users when compared to google. (Source: Alexa) On google, a person comes for search and goes away when he finds something. On Facebook, a person stays on the site longer and moves through many pages, so chances of getting exposure to your ad are more.
For me, Facebook is great if I can get my ad approved, but never had the patience to try over and over.
Google search is for finding things, mainly. FB users are there, usually socializing or playing games. Most users are not aggressively searching for information, other than social and games.. So possibly having ads relating to social and gaming would be relevant for a click thru..
