...like i just said But here's the thing guys, when/if facebook actually go like with an internet based operating system - How many millions of people will be using this (quite a lot i'd say) and with the OS - a place to search the web directly, ie not google You see
Google already OWN's Orkut, its another community building type of site.. well the thing is Facebook and others have major country specific members..like Orkut is popular in MENA region(middle east and asia) while Friendster is popular in Philippines.. and facebook is popular in US and european countries i guess.. anways..google already has a strong community site..why would it buy facebook anyways.. its like buying two YouTube sites...same thing different site..
They have a lot of searches ON THEIR SITE, that doesn't mean they have a lot of searches that compete with google. When people start using facebook search to search the rest of the web, that's when google has reason to worry. Anyhow, myspace had its own internal search untill they let google take over. Facebook may well take that road too.
If someone wanted to pay me 600 million dollars to put a search box on my site....there is no way in hell I would say no. I don't care if my site was Yahoo, or even Ask, give me my 600 million and you can have your spot on my site even if you are in direct competition with me.
Yes they have a lot of searches on their site but they are searching for web related topics - making the searches relevant. Insureandgo.co.uk reported 5% of their sales came from facebook alone
you realise that google gets about 1.2billion searches a day (according to this estimate (although the 'offical' figure is around 200 million))
yes, but do you not think google has a slight advantage lol plus it has been around a lot longer than facebook? anyway use http://www.blackle.com/ and save some power
Well, I do agree that getting traffic online has become more a social thing, with myspace, stumbleupon and yes facebook. If that's your point, I agree. The fact that google's growth this quarter was less than people expected does show that the markets they are active in aren't growing as much as they used to. New growth is likely to come from things like online networking, video etc. Still, facebook is just one of those websites, and not the biggest either, so I don't think it's facebook that is going to top google in online earnings. Amazon is more likely to do it (they passed yahoo recently, after all).
This post is possibly the most blatant attempt at forum link building I've ever seen (like John McEnroe - this guy can't be serious). By the way, if you're looking for great web design why not visit our site at.......only kidding.
Personally I don't think Facebook will be a threat to google, but perhaps entrepreneurs of my new social network/dating script will lol
Facebook has 31 million members and is facing a big fat lawsuit. Google gets over 200 million searches per day and has its hand in just about everything these days.
