I recently well on sunday i submitted an article to Ezine Articles on the topic of marketing and advertising websites, it got approved yesterday and for my first article i am now ranked 1612 out of 4312, i am not sure whether that is good as i am new to this. It can be very effective at driving traffic to your site, if your articles are well written/relevant and if new ones are submitted regularly.
Ezine Articles is really one of the best and most effective article directories out there. Over the years I have submitted many articles to MANY different article directories. I have gotten trafic from only two of them; Ezine Articles and The Chronicle. (Actually I have seen 1 or 2 visits here and there from other article directories, but nothing significant)
Yes, this can be really effective. Depending on the niche you choose and competition, your articles can be at the top of Google rankings. So even if your website is not ranked well first, you still get traffic and attention. If you can create one article a day, then you can dominate a niche in one month or less for the keywords you target. (But that always depends on competition). Ezine Articles is the most recommended I think. As juvanescence said, articles have to be very well written, if you can be seen as an expert in your field that's even better.
effective article writing has always worked for me! i would highly recommend adding it to your link building strategy.
I had 100,000 pages views and 1500 clickthroughs to my site on 138 articles on ezinearticles. It is a great way to build traffic to your site but it is still a good idea to have good strategies so that you articles are keyword rich and rank well in Google. I am not sure if Ezinearticles gets much traffic just on it's own but a keyword rich article will rank high in Google and bring the traffic to you in two clicks. The other important thing is to make sure that your bio box is an extension of your article so that people just continue through and click at the end of the article for more.
It is effective if you submit atleast a few articles a week. Otherwise it will give you a small boost for a day or two. I would say it is almost useless. In my opinion forum postingis a much easier way... But try it and post a review of the traffic
I have just started using Ezine Articles aswell, If you write good articles that people can use then it helps build backlinks to your site because people will use the articlesf or there pages.. The traffic can be endless because of this and how it helps you rank in the Search Engines.
It's useful if you're writing content about things that don't change very often. If you're writing articles for a rapidly changing niche (eg celebritie gossip) then it's not much use.
EzineArticles is one of the best article directories around. After more than 450 articles and 300,000 visitors to my published articles, I can only say it is the best! Use it to rank well in the search engines. It does not matter where your article ranks in EzineArticles itself as you are not racing against the rest in the category but more in the serps.

I think for overall success Ezinearticles is the best and it should be the number one directory to submit to. I really find value in isnare and write separate articles for them. I have them distribute them to hundreds of sites for about 2 bucks a whack and well worth it. In all I usually get about twice as much traffic after several weeks from the distributed articles on other sites. The only drawback is it can take a while for isnare to review the articles but IMHO well worth it.
Goarticles is another big article directory worth submitting to, but if you only submit to one directory go with Ezine. Since Ezine is the biggest by going with them first you give your article the best chance at exposure.
EZA is fantastic for promotion, and it is a well recognised authority site, and getting a ranking of 1612 within 4312 is pretty good considering the competition you have, so keep it up
