Directory Comparison (.com) domain is appraised $1,500 by Estibot.

Do you think the real market value is higher or lower?

agree with that, it's not the 'real value', i.e the 'funboobs . com' appraised for $1300, and was sold for $672. this might be the last deal of the domain owner and the buyer..

There's no such thing as an actual "appraisal" where domain names are concerned. "Appraisals", no matter where you obtain them or for how much... have anything to do with anything. It's just like the "Wizard" in the Wizard of Oz movie - they speak like authorities for any sucker who'll give them homage - but in the end... reality is reality. ANYTHING ON THIS EARTH is ONLY worth whatever it's worth to someone who wants it/willing to pay for it. Learn & earn.

As a average website visitor, I would say the domain is long and hard to remember.

As a webmaster, I would say the directory category is filled with so many sites that are junk, it is hard to become a legitmi site in this category and gain traction, make money and move up the Google ranks (not impossible just very hard)

With those negatives, I would think you would have a hard time getting more then $200-300 for the domain.

There isn't much use of a value any more. You will only get what people are willing to pay.

I think a domain like that would be worth around $300-500 if it is developed. I cannot picture a business that would be comparing directories. This would be solely for hardcore web-guys and those guys are typically very cheap.
