Or is it the eventual death of email marketing?

You may be right about that.

It would seem only about 25% of recipients actually read their emails, others don't make it through the filters, maybe because of mass mailings of duplicate content by machine which may be filtered because they think it is unwanted emails.

Others will delete without reading it because it's the same old marketer selling yet another product!

One other way to go is set up your own rss feed which anyone can subscribe to, although you won't know who, and keep putting out content on it and some special offers and before long the traffic you drive to your site will buy something, but only when they are ready to buy. They must get to know and trust you first!

What exactly do you call email marketing? If you are sending emails to your subscriber list that will work for sure, but some people consider unsolicited emails in email marketing also. If you are thinking of doing that, I don't see any positive side.

Hi one of the programs I work with www.DreamHomeBiz.co.uk sell email leads to affiliates. I am able to track the response, I can see how many and who has opened and visited the web site. It is only a small percentage who visit the web site. And an even smaller number who make a purchase 1 to 5 %

Yet the small number still makes it worth while. To start with they are sent 7 emails, but the names remain in the prospector and it has been known that that people have joined years after the first 7 emails have been sent.

So in conclusion I believe the email marking works as long as the list is good quality. The list I use is purchased from the company I am promoting. The leads are double opt in and requested information about this type of product. The cost is about £60 for 100 leads.

if you have your own list and if you email them now and then about your products, it may work, but if you email using safelists or others, they will not convert.

I guess it depends on the product.

I run a travelsite, I have a very high reading rate on the mails I send out. First of all, people are interested in reading the different destination reviews we prodict, and second, people are always looking for a bargain in the travel business..

Emailing to subscriber list could be a good option but if you try to send your subscribers junk mail they will start unsubscribing your mailing list.

I was just think about this as a customer. Above I posted about my thoughts as an affiliate.

In the last three month I have made two purchase from emails. They both were emails from zone alarm. That was because I know them, so if you use the right list then it will work.

Building you own list is best.

Well I feel it's good as long as you send them one offer but when you email them again and again with different sort they get annoyed and unsubscribe.

Email marketing still works for me, but only after I develop a relationship with my subscribers. You have to earn that over time. Using the drip method of providing useful information makes it easier to come back and sell something later. I read that a good list can earn you around $1 per subscriber per month and that is close to true for me now.

    @ jschuman

What is the information about? And what are you selling to your subscribers? Almost $1 per subscriber per month is really good.

Well, that is true for the most part. However, if you couple a safe-list campaign with ad copy (constantly testing is critical), you can receive some hits to your website.

It really depends on a bunch of things- the product you are selling, how many other people are selling the product and how good the ad copy is that you are using.

E-mail marketing still works but you have to hone the skills necessary to be successful at it. Otherwise, if it wasn't successful, why would anyone do it?

Building your own opt-in-list for email marketing can take a lot of time, but a good idea can be to sponsor an already popular Newsletter, which has a good subscriber base, or renting a banner or area could also be an idea. But this can be quite expensive in most cases.

Good e-mail marketing takes time, so if you don't have any, drop the idea.
