just get a well segmented database, good copy and design, expect a 1% conversion rate on sales at best, still worth it if considering how cheap it is.
I've always had no less than 20/25% opening rate perhaps I've been lucky... what niche/market you were working for?
Its a big learning curve bud....so if your gonna do it...be committed or else you will most likely quit before you start seeing results...
There are three steps I have for Email Marketing: 1) Build a List - Create a site, SEO it, and just, in general, GET TARGETED TRAFFIC TO IT (preferably in free ways)! 2) Build a Relationships - Don't send your growing list your affiliate links right off the bat. Continue to give them useful content a couple times a week. They will start to trust you because of your wealth of knowledge on the subject they are interested in. 3) Build your Bankroll - Once you build those relationships, it's time to hit them with an affiliate link every once in a while. At this point, hopefully they are eating out of your hand and already have their credit cards ready when they see you suggested a product. With a huge list, you can reach a large amount of targeted people with little effort at that point other than putting together an email on your Email Marketing platform and clicking the send button. If you've worked your butt off and you've got a list of 50k people. Let's imagine 20% open it (10k). All these people love you, but only 2% (200) openers actually buy the product that you are getting paid $40 for each lead. You just made $8,000 with one email.
Personally, the email either goes to spam, or if it comes to my inbox I just get angry that I have been spammed and don't click it.
This thread was very helpful to me. If there's one area I need to improve in, it's email marketing. I was thinking about buying a mailing list because I have a very high conversion rate and I figured if I can get people to my sales page, I have a good chance of making a sale because of some of the techniques I use. But after reading this thread, that might not be a good idea because it's not targeted traffic and my emails probably are going to get sent to the spam folder anyway. But building a list is a high priority for me and this thread helped me out a lot. Thanks guys.
Email marketing is a must. If you're into internet business, the first thing you should do is building your email list/subscriber list. If you have a strong email list, then it is like your personal ATM. Read my post on my blog about email marketing @ Build a Email List? – Why & How
I heard that email marketing is dead and noone clicks our marketing email title, is it true? Anyway if you have targeted data then it would work for you, I have almost 1000 email id generated from article submission guys, tell me if I can do with that!
Its not true. It is a proven fact that email marketing is one of the most successful ways of selling products.
Yeah Email Marketing is really good the advantage of list that you build yourself is that when never you mail those people they 'll be always interested in what ever you mailed to them thus they Opt-In themselves no more spam trap or honey pot etc .
What size list was it? Did you try and build a relationship with your subscribers or did you just try and force products on them?
Absolutely right Jasonb. If you have already built a good relationship with your subscribers, then its bound to perform. Thanks.
Make sure they opt-in for it. If they subscribe to your newsletter or email updates, then you can be very successful. Make it worth your effort by creating good email content and be consistent. If you say you'll email monthly, do it.
