Unsolicited emails are definitely not very effective.

Build your own lists. I make 100% of my living from my web sites and the lists I have created from the same web sites. All you have to do is use an email/autoresponder program like the ones at www.autorespondershub.com, no need to pay monthly fees.

    Is email marketing dead?
    defiantly not
I just sent my resume off to a marketing firm here in town, for the email marketing dept..
If it is dead, they are sure willing to pay a good deal of money for someone to use email marketing..lol

    Email marketing is NOT dead.

If you capture quality leads through a targeted opt in procedure, you are golden. You now have their permission to market to them.

Of course always make sure they can unsubscribe easily, and hassle free.
Your content and copy must be KING. Or you are pretty much hooped. Unless you can spring out amazing headlines, you will not have too many chances once you bore them.

Using email for product launches has got to be one of the most effective possible email campaigns out there. "The sideways sales letter".

Spam is useless. Permission based email marketing is the shit.

Of course email marketing is not dead .
I think email market is effective and easy to target potient customs .
But the condition is you have a good and quality email list .
Plus don't bother/spam your subscribers , just provide the information/promotion what they really need .

I don't think it's dead either from my personal experience. You need to get peoples trust and cultivate your list to be responsive. You should be building your own list and not buying a list off someone else.

Email marketing is bulk marketing. It just emphasize in quantity instead of quality. The more subscribers you have the better. For example, for every 1000 subscribers, you may get your sales about 0.1% for every email sent. If your have 100 subscribers, 0.1% closing ratio means none.

Plain email marketing is dead I must agree. I do a bit of bulk email sending but it is ineffective, even though it has a list of voluntarily accepted email Ids.

But email marketing done thru newsletters, and viral campaigns could be effective to get traffic.

Newsletters help you for better targetting and viral campaigns proove effective.

Thank you! Now that actually makes a lot of sense.

In terms of email marketing, dead, come on folks, it's only been around for a "few" (theoretically speaking) years. Have the rules changed? Yes ... and they'll continue to change, but it's far from dead. Other forms of direct response marketing such as classified ads, direct mail, telemarketing and door-to-door sales (I just bought some Girl Scout cookies) are also not dead, but the rules certainly have changed.

    NO!
    It totally isn't dead!
You can still make millions of dollars with mailing services!

Yes it's Spam, but for the mail - sender it's GOOD spam :)
You just need the good mails at the right time ;)

the only reason they are dead, is because the advertisers don't realize to make their ads look "different" than all the other ones,

so that they stick out more.,
