Is ebay a good site to sell handmade jewelries online?

Discussion in 'eBay' started by Nelbuena, Nov 24, 2010.

    Hi,

My have a small jewelry shop and I was wondering if I could sell some jewelries on ebay. If yes, what courier would be best for shipping jewelries?
How much would it cost for shipping from The Philippines to let's say US?

    Thanks!

Handmade jewelry is definitely something you can sell on eBay. It's important that you upload clear pictures with high resolution and that you place the right keywords in your listing title. I only send via registered mail with a tracking number, because if you haven't got proof you've sent the item then the buyer can claim he didn't receive it and paypal will automatically debit your account and refund the buyer.

    I'll keep that in mind.
Would you recommend selling replica jewelries or not? I have a few replicas right now. It's real gold, like chanel, LV, Bvlgari.

Hi there! Yes of course you can sell your jewelries on ebay. You know that everything that you want to sell are accepted. Try making a great ad posting all your shop information, pictures of the jewelry you want to sell and make sure your products are in great quality.

on ebay you won't get a good price on that items. You could try to sell them at http://www.rubylane.com/ or at http://www.tias.com/ or on http://www.etsy.com/ or on http://www.goantiques.com/
Now these sites that I have told you about do not have very much traffic, but you can sell your products for a much bigger price than on ebay, and the competition there is much less than on ebay. But, I think that the wisest thig to do is to sell both on ebay and on these websites that I gave you.

Probably it would be if you can give proper security and surety of shipping to the buyers.

I second etsy for sure. That is THE site for anything hand-made. Not only that, but anyone who shops there is looking for that sort of stuff specifically, not like eBay.

First of all if you have some contact in the US, its better to send the whole lot of your jewelry at once to the US. Then from there you can send a USPS or UPS which is a very cheap postal service within the US alongwith a tracking number. However if you dont have anyone there and still wanna sell items on ebay dot com site, then you should be sending your items by FedEx, because that is only the reliable source which most of the ebay users in US trust.

Also you have to be very careful in the content of your listing and mention it specifically that you will be sending it from your country and not from the US, so the shipping will obviously be high. BTW are you selling jewelry from Yoolim ?

I know about a business in Toronto that sells worldwide. He started small on Ebay and it just kept growing ever month. He's now doing low $XX,XXX per month and he's getting his jewelry made in India. I think your production costs being lower would help cover the higher shipping charges. Check out what other sellers are charging for shipping. Make sure you include "free" insurance (ie build the price into your cost when you list the item). You need some positive feedback on Ebay to build "trust".
