Is E-whoring legal or illegal? Consequences?

Discussion in 'Legal Issues' started by HarmoniousQ, Sep 18, 2013.

For those of you who don't know what E-Whoring is,
Basically you create a profile of a girl who sells her pictures or videos for money, there is a lot of software which allows you to create very real looking shows for people who pay them a fee which I can have access too so I can essentially e-whore for myself.
I live in the UK just so you know as legal implications may differ from country to country. And I would make damn sure anyone I am associating with or using their pictures is over the age of 18 .
I'm aware it is classed as "blackhat" and yes it is unethical, but I have 2 friends who do it, they make a lot of money more than I'd ever earn in a part time job and their "customers" are always satisfied and agree to pay the money. So I don't think its too bad.
Please post on what you think are the chances of prosecution for this, and whether its worth doing.

(Not sure if this is breaking the rules? Line is kind of blurred on what "shady" activity is, but since I am asking for honest advice then I assumed its ok)

    You just made my day.
Hm, so that's how they do it :)
I actually thinking they may be set video or something. Holy crap. E-whoring ha!! :D
I don't it's legal or anything but while making that kind of stuff make sure you do with VPN services and add extra layer security. So you actually secure while having anything illegal.

My cyber-Lawyer always told me : Everything is legal until you Don't Get Caught.

It works because there's always horny teens or sex-starved older guys willing to chat with or email people identifying themselves as easy girls, even if they're not females. It's not illegal to use pseudonym identities for this or other purposes, but many sites don't like being the conduit for e-whoring campaigns, so some (like Craigslist) have been extra aggressive about litigating against people who do. So it's more accurate to say it's legal, but it may invite highly litiguous folks to go after you, depending on where you do it.

I think you need better friends. Not sure who would go for that anyway. To me, its not a question of porn being ethical or not, it just sounds like you are planning to be an open scammer, and I would like to think that you would have other opportunities to earn online.
How much work would you have to do to pimp yourself? If you put that into promoting affiliates, you might earn more.

I have heard of girls that do something different, that is, the two of them record a show that lasts for 30mins - 1hr, run it in a constant loop, the loop ends and starts with them off camera (so no jump at the reset) and they claim that noone has ever lasted until the end anyway, and they just hide in live chat in premium where its paid to enter (no freeview) and it works out very nicely for them.

you said :"they make a lot of money more than I'd ever earn in a part time job"
I would still encourage you to take up a part time job. For me, it sounds like you are under18 and still at school. Part time job go great for resumes, can help you to get into uni or other places. Your work can act as a reference for future jobs, meaning that you will have a greater chance for a high paying job if you start by doing some part time jobs here and there; whereas I very much doubt that *this* would look good on your resume.

One other thing to consider is that some people earn more online from websites in a day, then I earn in a month working full time, doesnt mean that I can instantly replicate their success, and in fact, what I earn in a month (working full time) is more then some webmasters earn from their websites in a year.... So even for the same amount of time, You might be unable to earn the same as your friends, and you might earn more from a part time job, as well as benefit long term from it.

Hey, while we are at it, have a guess where I met my partner. Do you think I met her:
    (a) working online
    (b) working at some crappy place for low salary

seriously, look for a part time job, you might just meet the girl of your dreams.

Your cyber lawyer is an idiot.

Your sentence has one too many negatives in there to make any sense. Try that sentence without the "don't". Either way, your lawyer is still an idiot.

    Still, Apology Pleaded.

as well yes, " My cyber-Lawyer always told me : Everything is legal until you Get Caught. " and he is BAKA ( idiot ).
Still, I like him as good advisor. I like people who don't give damn about anything but not careless one.

That's one for sure, you need better community, but am not saying they were your friends. Friends and best friends are different! - It just you knew them for long or it caught your interest. Not sure but yes it's happen. in short you need better surrounding.
Matt, their are many opportunity to earn online but many of them need mostly solid investment before you get your ROI back. He already explain he doing part time job to earn little amount. so it's not suitable for him and about being scammer, i don't think so.
There are many ADs if you visits porn material sites, about "HELPING YOURSELF", so I personally don't think it's scam or something. You just relief those creepy guys from itching!

I actually don't know lots about premium shows, but I click many times on CAMS ADS and there are many FREE CAM to get yourself busy. As well it just complex for him! he need simple few $$ .

It not illegal. You are sounding like he may snatch your CAM show! ( or your business ) :p

I still say it again! You need good investment to get better ROI. TEST - TEST and always be TEST product or anything you are promoting. Many webmaster scare to invest amount or not that much knowledgeable or don't even have money to invest.

but yes, we all need alternate option - like if it's not work I have other things to recover.

Hey, where that come from? It sound like to get chick, now need job! No it never does!
The only thing needed is APPROACH :)

There are lots of decisions people can make where the legal ramifications are minimal and it really becomes a business decision about risk. To that extent many things do depend on getting caught and even getting caught is worth the risk/reward.

On the other hand, there are issues where you can step into a deep problem without even realizing it. The OP is in the UK and I don't know UK law or and can't from his post even tell precisely what he is suggesting doing. The one concern I would have, in the US, is that it could be considered an identity crime. When you pose as someone you are not [especially if the person you are pretending to be is actually a real person], the door to it being interpreted as an identity crime are wide open. In today's terrorist crazy world some of those identity related crimes have very serious punishments and I would be wary about that aspect of it.

Yap, you are totally rite here. I as well don't actually knew about UK laws, but it carry risk.
Still there are many available loopholes to avoid it. Like, choose CAM model from other small countries or where you actually not belong from. Well, am not going to expose here anything but still as browntwn says, "getting caught is worth the risk/reward".

So, HarmoniousQ Stay AWAY!! ( Let me clear here - it's not because you're 17 )

BTW, Your are writer browntwn? Actually, you written all post more professionally! You sound more like author, IDK but you caught my interest.

@TrafficTOM, no, I was not speaking to you directly, however, you have a way of mis-reading my entire post. Like I said, it is doubtful that he will be able to earn on his first day the same as his friends do. Are you seriously disagreeing with this? He is only considering this as an option as he is hearing of others earning big, but what if he earns less?

The guy doesnt have a job, or if he does, he doesnt say it in his opening post.

You gotta think long term here. I know kids that left uni, and cant find work, and they have to fight just to be an intern somewhere. Real jobs will always look at where you have worked in the past, and part time jobs help to open doors.

Even if he was to work somewhere for 2 weeks as an intern (100% free) It would be better for him long term then doing *this*.

Traffictom, if you want to do run around pretending to be a girl as your career thats fine, but dont encourage others.

    hey matt.
Yes, I partially disagree. unless try anything you will never know! Dreams never comes true unless and unless you try. He just thinking about get much income than his previous part time job. Even if it's fraction!

He actually mention, that he done part time job back then.

Look matt, he is teenager and they need few financial freedom in their age. parents/adult don't give them and they can't earn that much. Well, he just wants to earn few more bucks, well it's not that bad. Every one want EXTRA ( if person won't need, then he/she must sent by GOD ).
straight Tree always cuts no matter how you look at it, but I'm not saying you have to become badass!

Hm, no one destroy all their age to do same - at least not i think that way. He just want few bucks more X2 or X3 maybe. In week just 30 minutes with auto pilot software, it's not mean his/her destroy life with this. As well am not encouraging other and I never indent to do so. Just clearing my point here.

P.S - As well for you, HarmoniousQ - Just stay away OR take your own risk likely browntwn mention in above thread.

if you have some skill try FIVERR, FREELANCER or anything where you can creatively used your skills to max level. I hope your teenager freedom will also be secure.

    Be safe.

Thanks for your guys help on this, I do value your help whether you are for or against it because if I didn't this thread would be rather pointless.
@matt_62, I already have a girlfriend, but the social side in that I could meet new people in a part-time job does appeal to me, I'm not looking to make a full time career out of it, just something to gather money whilst I get a good job actually.
Also if any of you were interested I've decided its probably not a great idea to go ahead with it, so please do not post any further messages.
