Hey, Been a member for sometime and never come across anything else like this whilst being a member here. Got this to my email inbox today (twice): The interesting part is that they reference digitalpoint.com directly as a partner. So is this email really the result of being a registered member here?
Nope, we have never given, rented, sold, etc. anyones email address (or any other info). And I've never even heard of fileuploaders.com before.
Shawn, I thought as much and I appreciate that you took the time to reply. I have figured out who it is.... as you will be able to tell from your access to my profile info my email is not something that is easy to guess, there is nothing on public on DP which would connect the two or allow anyone to figure it out unless they were able to hack your DB (highly unlikely). I also rarely use the email anymore as it is mainly for personal contacts and a couple of forums. However I made a mistake once and registered for a web site called siteflippa.com to sell a web site after I saw a special offer advertised here. They have since spammed the hell out of me with offers to buy their crappy script, flipped their own marketplace multiple times and created new ones using the same database the latest incarnation is called websiteniche.com The whois on that domain shows it is owned by someone who lives in Hull, UK. Registered through Name.com and is running on ukclouddns.com nameservers. The whois on fileuploaders.com uses a different address, but the name Design Hull Ltd the fact it is registered through Name.com and is using the same nameservers leads me to beleive it's the same people behind the other sites. So they are linking my username and email on their site with my username on DP and sending me more spam and telling me they are associated to you. I think it's time for me to start sending some spam as they have ignored my repeated requests to stop emailing me!
