Is DP Keyword tracker down?

Discussion in 'Keyword Tracker' started by wireddeals, Nov 9, 2006.

I have set up my keywords on Nov 4 and have been coming back to check on the progress ever since. I have not seen the results update since Nov 4. They still show Nov 4 Last Check date and whatever the rankings were at that time. Daily change is all 0's.

I know for sure the rankings have been fluctuating... is the tool even working?

As disgust mentioned, it's up (and always has been). The Google API seems to be getting worse and worse lately though (I just think Google's API servers are overloaded).

I'm pretty sure that's how it's supposed to work? :)

    unless you've donated, anyway.

Shawn- I think there has to be something wrong on DP's side because I'm -9999 for the monthly change column for all 3 major search engines. I know for a fact that some of my keywords are well ranked so I don't think this is just a google issue.

Do you get an error if you click on one of the keywords manually?

    Actually, I do get an error that says;

The request returned the following error:
    Unexpected result from your server:

Are you using the advanced usage script? If so, can you try removing it from your settings and try manually checking a keyword then to see if you still get an error?

Keyword Tracker is locked up for my account. It has shown this for the last 12+ hours:
    Query Thread Running...
Remaining... Keywords: 782, Links: 158 Refresh

I actually have 782 keywords, and the total number of links is something like 230...so the tracker just got started and then stalled.

I can log in and log out from machines at work and home, and the count is the same. Clicking on an individual site name (from either the "Track Keywords" or "Track Back Links" page) goes out and checks it and updates the date of last check, but the 782/158 count never changes. Clicking Refresh seems to work, but the count doesn't change.

I believe the problem originated when I changed the Google account number while the keyword tracker was running. It is changed back to its correct value now, but I guess the keyword tracker hasn't noticed.

    Suggestions?

Click the Check All to kill the existing process and pick up where it left off.

I too have been having massive -9999 shifts for the past week or so.

Just tried a single result update. KWT told me my server returned an unknown error.

Tried removing the custom script and tried again.

This time it told me Google returned the server error.

Seems mighty G is having ongoing issues as Shawn highlighted earlier.

    Shawn -

    (1) Does clicking on a keyword initiate a manual search rather than a search through the API?

    (2) The advanced usage script enables retrieving results from MSN and Yahoo, where there never seem to be any problems. How does removing the script, which has nothing to do with Google, help with a Google error message?

As I understand it if we use the Advanced Usage Script both our server as well as the DP server is involved in the process of checking for updates. By removing the script only the DP's is involved and only your Google SERPs will be checked.

Right... and no, the keyword tracker only uses the API (it would be a violation of Google's TOS to do anything different).

From here in So. Cal no matter what time of day I try, I'm seeing failure after failure after running smoothly for so many months.

I know this is the Google API issue, I'm just posting a report for the data it provides.

I was checking at 5-6 am. I've tried just after midnight. And just now at 4:25 am.

    And so on...

sigh. It is a great tool. Now if only Google had its act together...

Are you using the advanced usage script? If so, try removing the URL from your settings, save and re-add it (it will validate it).
