every time that I visit the domains for sale forum in the last couple of months I get the feeling that DP is the flea market of domains - why? - read the posts titles "cheap" "$1" auction start at $0" IMO if you are domaining at least make money, you bought a domain for $0.99 (.info) and selling it hardly for $3? - come on have some respect for yourself...., or sellers who paid $6.99 / $9.99 for a dot com and selling it for less then they paid when the domain expires within 6-8 months... I can understand that some sellers are from 3rd world countries and happy with making $2-3 a day...., but for many of us who lives in other countries (US, Europe [east & west]) $2 or $3 doest even cover the broadband cost for the day. Therefore, dear sellers please do not make this great place (DP) a flea market (hope to get few people that will agree with me on this one) Good Luck in Business to everyone!
I don't really want to comment on the $2-$3 "third world country statment", but what I can suggest you is, try having a look at the "Content Creation" thread, you might find many such quotes "Native English Writer", "I am from the US", "from the UK" , offering services at $1/100 words.(wold you regard them as "us"?) or probably the other way round Observe the "buyers", if not all, a handful of them would purchase a content of let's say 500 words at $3!! The problem of a "lower rate", "or a lower selling price" is not because the sellers coming from the "third world country", but because of the constant purchase! Demand initiates the market, and so it is! you can't just say "sun doesn't exsist", if you can't see the sunlight in a dark room.
in the case of U.K, U.S content writers I agree with you - most of the writers are students how are looking to make $10 an hour (500-1000 words)
Some people are willing to buy $1 a 100 word articles, these sites never work out in the long run because they dont hold quality content. I have some people who pay me $15 per 100 words + a percentage of earnings because they make money out of me Most foreign writers who do english content write for spam sites that never amount to much, simply because teh work they produce would degrade a high quality site. This isn't a personal racist attack, it's just the majority of Indian writers make a lot of basic mistakes with english language and grammar (Which is admittedly hideously complex). The native english speakingwriters who sell services for $1 a 100 words tend to be students and under the age of 18, these people do not support, or mean to support themselves via their writing, simply to supplement another income. They have little in the way of writing or personal experience with the world and the people in it (Understanding people and target audience is key to sales conversion) Quite simply you get what you pay for. If people buy $1 content thats exactly what they will get, it wont convert well, it will knock them down in google search rankings but it IS cheap. But I can gaurentee to you that a lot of people who earn an easy lifestyle of website management dont employ the cheaper writers, they employ the people that can write an article that brings in 100+ visitors a day minimum for years, culminate that with a further 30 articles and suddenly you get a massive organic traffic flow for a long time to come
sorry mate i dont agree.. becuase every domain is sold depending on its value on the net. if the domain is hjokmdnrllnvrk.com and its bought for 10$ reg fee, then i garantee it doesnt worth more than $0.5
You are absolutely right! - some people are buying domainbythepound.com for $10 and the should pay that some one will take them. But look at some gooddomains.com that are been sold for $1-5 or the new "trend" is to buy a domain from TDNAM for $15 or more and sell it for $2-4 profit it's a joke that is killing the market (sorry you can't produce good cheap domains in china)
I see nothing wrong with selling a domain name you couldn't make work. Perhaps someone else can take it and make a productive website out of it, its better to try to sell it at a loss if you can rather than let it expire worthless.
I love the BST section, but I hate having to deal with the domain BS that comes with buying/selling sites on here, along with domains themselves. People sell sites and have no idea how to push a domain...and then there's people who promise a free push, and after a week nothing's happened. If I weren't such a nice guy, I'd be handing out chargebacks and not have to put up with BS here. Maybe things will work out...oh well.
There is no harm in making just $2-3 profit from a domain. You have to be "competitive" or you will not make anything at all. I agree that a profit of a few dollars everyday is not enough for people from the US, UK and other such countries but I think that's how it goes in an International forum!
The Free Market is at work here at DP. I see nothing wrong with it. I like outsourcing work too. It is the way to get specialization.
not sure whether to agree on that statement or not but i would be happy to write a 100 word article for $15, hehe
That's because if you look at the names that many people reg on DP, they are absolute pieces of crap that are not even worth regging in the 1st place. Once they relise this, then they dump them for whatever price they can get to recoup some of the loss.
