Rules Is DP all about who you know in regards to what you can get away with?

So I bid on a no reserve auction for a domain name: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1986616

On the 13th November I win the auction so I contact the seller for payment details.

24 hours pass, I check the sellers profile and it says they have been online, so I wonder why they have ignored me.

I contact them again and even leave a reply in an active thread that they are in. I also report the post so that a mod can take a look. I hear nothing so yesterday I again try and contact the seller.

Today 5 days later the seller states the following:

I would first like to apoligies for my behaviour. I have been ignoring you because i was actually looking for a $xxxx offer and thought $55 was far too low. I shouldn't have ignored you and should have just told you straight away, to be honest no one bidded for the first 3-4 days so i thought no one would so i just left the reserve after i listed it. I smoke to the admin, digitalpoint, the owner of the forum and he gave me advice and told me i shouldn't have ignored you so i am sorry for that. I don't want to sell it for $55 and i am sorry for wasting your time.

I leave negative feedback and wonder why the seller was allowed to get away with it (refusing to sell on a no reserve auction) and I also wonder why the "admin/owner" gave this person advice and yet I hear nothing.

The seller then leaves me a retalliating feedback and the following message:

"dude, you could have just let it go, i said i was sorry and i know big people on DP so do what you will but your % is 85"

This seller was allowed to ignore me, I hear nothing for 5 days, seller is allowed to not sell and suffer no ban etc and then allowed to leave me negative feedback claiming they know big people!!

It certainly seems to be who you know around here

Personally I think that you could have a case against the iTrader that they left 'Spamming my threads, insulting, can't let a small transaction go'. The first two statements in that would be issues for infractions, and the third is just admitting that he was in the wrong. If he wanted to get an $xxxx offer, then he should have used the reserve price option, because it's there to prevent this kind of situation. The fact that he couldn't be honest with you, admit that he was at fault and apologize is a poor show, and I'm pretty confident that Shawn doesn't provide 'protection' to anyone on the forum.. so I'd ignore that PM.

    Hi Hecky

Exactly, why a mod hasn't issued an infraction or some kind of trading ban to the seller is puzzling (seller is still selling content etc so I know they haven't any restrictions). Then for them (the seller) to be allowed to leave retaliation feedback like that, well a double whammy of wrong doings. I still haven't heard anything, you mention "Shawn" is he the owner of DP?

Are you able to see other people's infractions somehow?

He is still selling content, I have wrong feedback next to my name which he had no right to leave and I can't see any temp bans or anything in place as he is still posting. Do I feel he has got off lightly yes but I guess this is something I am just going to have to move on and accept and it does seem that some people can get away with more than others.
