I grew up with out the internet and first came online in 1999 with a WebTV. I know that "morality" is from one's upbringing. For example: A normal person would not shoplift even if he knew he would get away with it. The emotional feeling in the pit of the stomach would prevent the normal person from stealing in this fashion, However... I do download movies. As I feel NO guilt about it whatsoever. I cannot not intellectually rationalize it, but I do it because I don't feel "guilty". In fact, I see the internet as nothing more than a "fantasy bubble" and if god does exist, then he is not privy to what goes on here. So I download movies without guilt..
Downloading movies from the internet is not right because you are stealing from people. I've downloaded movies from the internet before but now I don't do it anymore because I feel that it is not the honest thing to do.
I used to do it but I stopped, not because I feel guilty about it or because I feel it is immoral. I stopped because I fear the consequences of being caught commiting an illegal act - pure and simple
Although that was also one of the reasons I quit, it wasn't the main reason behind my decision. I fell downloading copyrighted material from the internet is wrong and therefore should be avoided.
Downloading is the same as stealing .. however, I don't care it, as most of movies ( DVD ) cost 20$+ ! Assuming that I've watched 9 movies last week - 180$ ! Sure, I'm not going to pay 180$ for that ..
I'll download anything if I can find it. Yes it is immoral, but the companies who make the films have hundreds of billions of £££'s and $$$'s I try not to download PC games as much anymore though because it is damaging the industry, the PC gaming industry I care about, but a multi-billion company, not so much. I'd stop Downloading PC games altogether if they removed the £&@* DRM/ SecuROm stuff on them. I'm paying £35+ for these, why can I only install it twice?! however nice companies like Valve/Steam are helping us with that with their download services =]
Sorry I don't agree with you. We all know perfectly well that you download PC games because you don't want to pay for them. It was exactly the same for me. I used to tell myself the same things but it was all a big lie. When you think about it, games are actually quite cheap. If you use services like steam and online retail stores, you will notice that prices may be even cheaper. I find that buying online is better because I use the money I earn from my online activities which all go to my Paypal account. This way I don't feel so guilty for buying them
I download movies, I download games, I download everything and don't regret it. Big greedy companies won't care, I am 1 man, I think they review and calculate their sales in 3, 4 or 5 figures so it shouldn't bother me or them if they didn't get my money. Although if I liked something a lot and it's I find it worth the money I shall reward the creator's efforts. Peace and please, don't be hypocrits.
yeah, i don't feel guilty for doing it either.. I don't really download movies anymore.. so much as I'm all over the music.. But I'm sorry I'm not made of money.. I'm not really going to do it legally and pay a dollar per song.. especially when I have about 2k songs... they make enough money anyways.
charging over £20 for a blue ray dvd is immoral , if piracy wasnt so abundant for regular dvd's they would still be way over priced - piracy helped drive the costs of regular dvd's down to a reasonable price.
I do not download the movies as I find it sheer waste of time simply because I can very well rent a dvd for it from the nearby store. As far as morality is concerned, if the content maker prices its exorbitantly, there is bound to be piracy of the same. Price your offering correctly and it would be win-win for all... I download The MOvies Which I dont Get In My locality, Some Movies Are My Favorites And Wanna See Them Most Of The times I Try looking near By Stores other Wise Try To ask Some Friends Who Have Good Internet And They Give me
I download them from usenet, so actually I'm paying to download files illegally when I like the movie a lot, I buy a hardcopy because the quality is better (4.7GB download takes like 45 minutes!) Maybe it's immoral, but $20 for a movie is immoral as well. I'm not going to pay that much for a movie!
I wish I could get speeds like that!!! For me to download something like that would take a GOOD few days, and thats if the seeders were doing their jobs properly
