There is a lot of bad advice and people that don't have any clue what they are talking about in here. Rectangle Man hit the nail on the head. It's called cyber squatting. However, it really depends on where you're from. If you're in the US, than as he said, 100k out the window for you. Whether or not it's trademark infringement, they just have to prove you registered it in bad faith. If it is trademarked, and you are using it for something similar to the trademark, than you are going to loose. But say, you register doritos.net and sell books, you are fine, because you are not infringing in dorito's' trademark for chips. Now, if you start selling your own chips, than you are infringing a trademark. If you are purchasing it to try to get them to pay you money for it, you will loose it. There is also WIPPO disputes, faster, cheaper, and you loose the domain just like if a court ruled on it.
