I'm not sure but if you dont get a good answer I think some Dmoz mods hang out at in the Dmoz section of directories here in DP. I bet they know for sure.
Dmoz Google believes it is a dictionary of google, otherwise your information on google has not necessarily accept all the Dmoz.
That is what i was about to say. Yes, the Google Directory is just a "copy" of the DMOZ Directory. So, in effect... That is the only way
Simply go to http://directory.google.com and hit "submit a site". You'll notice that you will be referred to DMOZ.org. So that's a yes.
I don't think Google is a complete copy of DMOZ. Some sites that appear on google are not listed in DMOZ. Google has it's own directory; but it would be great if you could get listed in DMOZ because you would appear in multiple search engines (including google, if you have not yet submitted your URL to them). I'm not sure, but I think you might even rank higher.
Fact: Google Directory IS DMOZ! They both use the same directory. Try submit a link on Google directory... and you'll notice you're being redirected to DMOZ.
Yes Google uses crappy ass DMOZ as the only way to get in. If you do not like how certain sites are getting an unfair advantage (editors adding only their own sites, editors taking 2 years to up date a category, having to bribe editors to get listed, etc....) by getting monster directory links in DMOZ, plus Google Directory, voice your protest at the Google forum thread I started last year: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Webmasters/thread?tid=30314c43e0bb30cf&hl=en
Yes Dmoz is only the way to get into Google directory? Dmoz take minimum 7 days & 3 months to get your site in Google Directory..
yes, Dmoz takes time, but once accepted, you will get a quality, high PR link from Dmoz. So for getting a quality link, it makes sense tio wait for a few months.
So how come my one of my sites is listed in a category that is only PR1 .... since when is a PR1 a high PR?
I don't think being listed in the Google Directory actually adds any weight to your site's rankings, only links from DMOZ matter.
