IS DMOZ still relevant?

Well, Shoemaker certainly attracted an audience and he is good at what he is.....bearing in mind he is a salesman of sorts :)

Amazing, but when searching through old DP threads, here is one that is quite amusing, Schoemaker again, offering TO PAY for inclusion in DMOZ.

Funny how no one has ever brought this up before :) I just dont see why a site as big as his would feel the need to be included in DMOZ ?

The point being that you never see both sides of the story, i only know what i have seen and read. I wont even attempt to fill in the gaps, everyone will reach their own conclusion......But i do note that to this day his site is not included in DMOZ, so that shows me that even he could not buy his way in :)

I agree... he went about it all wrong... he should have tried Scriptlance which has dozens of completed transactions for DMOZ inclusion, most with positive feedback.

At the beginig of Internet Dmoz was the king directory. But today if you are not in Dmoz doesn't mind necessary you are not important, or your traffic will be very low 4ever. Even so if you are in Dmoz so very good for you!

I was an ODP editor in multiple categories for many years.
If you submit to categories where the volunteer editor is inactive or non-existent it could take FOREVER to be listed.
The listing process is manual and hobbyist-like.
The listing delay has been an issue for as far back as i can recall, (basically late 90's), so to find it the same in 2011 is really not shocking.

I have applied to be an editor numerous times and never heard back. A shame.
