Yes, yes, we will tell you how to spend your spare time. Us and the end users will tell you. At the moment you are not listening, and what is happening to the ODP? It's D-I-E-I-N-G! That's right... it's numbers are dropping daily. And why is that? The answer is simple, but you will not bother to listen, as you won't even read the guidelines to the ODP itself. YES, it IS a SERVICE! It's add page says so, are you saying the guidelines are nothing but lies? Incorrect? Or maybe that you only need to pay attention to part of them... oh, yes, that's the one isn't it? You only need the follow the guidelines that suit yourself.... right? What do you call it again? Oh yeah, Editorial Discretion, lol. The guidelines refer to the ODP as a SERVICE and calls the pages it adds as LISTINGS, that to most means LISTING SERVICE...but to editors? Nope, not a bit of it. *mind boggling* You are positively correct... the ODP serves the ODP, plain and simple, no if's and's. or but's about it. The proof is in the site itself... it's nothing but self-serving editors from the very top, in fact, it was founded on self-service, and even AOL (the owners of the ODP) encourage it! (see: TOPIX for the prime example). Though, honestly, with all of the TRUE things about the ODP, it's really amazing why any webmaster would truly want in... Change is needed, and until change is had, the ODP will be second hand. I'd say that DMOZ2.0 could solve a lot of the issues, but heh... from the looks of it, they scrapped that idea back in August.

Nope. For most websites, it's just content that's king. However, young blogs and forums often have inadequate content .
