For some it is so thought u were one of them ,like for me my goal was to help my country putting few links from various institues but never got the chance to do it, i had about 30 more links and about 5 pages bookmarked to serve the same, but they decided to be real asses and booted me for the reason that i ran a forum called www.dmoz-resources.com ...but anyways i think annie loves dmoz so much that she sleeps with her lappy with dmoz site open on it all the time... so if she ever got removed from dmoz she would be so broken inside... so i thought u were as dedicated as annie .... Cheers
It's true, but how did you know? The ODP kept me sane during the years it's taken to recover, now it's a part of me.
Dan who sent his racoon has a hidden camera on it, and since racoon is trained to be a spy we know exactly what you are upto...
Some listings provide quite a bit of traffic. Key is to find categories which rank for keyterms you yourself are after.
I think you got bad information. From the inside it seems more like a mine field, at least in some categories.
Hi Skillipedia, where is your source of info? it will be great to know... thanx Totally agree Mike!! I think it works the same for wikipedia... you can get links and if wikipedia is ranked high for that term... then you will be in for a flow of traffic.. my 2 pence..
Don't say that too loud. I mentioned it another thread, and it's like I denied global warming, or something... (the new crime of the century) If you know this, I commend you for having a shred of intelligence. However, I must inform you that the proper response is to deny, and declare DMOZ to be dead.
Dmoz is good for both PR and traffic. you may never see anyone , who search Dmoz for anything. but you will see many who search google directory - which take Dmoz result (though they have their own filtering) and many others includes alexa ( i can't remember all names :d) so you will get traffic indirectly.
And what do backlinks translate to? If backlinks don't equal both PR and traffic, then why do we bother with any linking at all? Perhaps you'd like to CORRECTLY state that DMOZ links don't DIRECTLY correspond to traffic. If you say that, I agree. However, GOOD DMOZ links - like any good link of any kind - DIRECTLY translate to PR. (so you're almost half wrong, anyway) Crappy DMOZ links are as worthless as any other crappy link, also. But there's a special kind of magic with a really good DMOZ link. (and all of the backlinks that it populates in third rate directories) They really rock. So most of the real benefit of DMOZ linking is half direct, and half indirect.
I don't think its crucial for traffic. Personally I think Dmoz is getting less effective by the year...although that said, I still found it a pain in the ass to get a listing, which was infuriating.
Why is it a 'pain in the ass' and 'infuriating'? You only need to submit once to one category. Are you sitting on something when you do it or something like that? as submitting once should not be a 'pain in the ass'.
