I don't know if this question has been asked before so excuse me if it has but is dmoz a NPO? (Non profit organisation) Am I right or wrong?
Not for editors and Metas, they call it "SEO" work when they get paid for listing sites and they can always list tons of MFA, pharmacy, gambling and illegal porn too. Therefore, DMOZ is VPO (very profitable organization) for "senior" editors.
I cannot prove this, but I suspect that the editors that stand stubbornly behind the decision to list individual Rubylane stores, but not the individual stores of goantiques.com, tias.com, Trocadero.com, Cyberattic.com, iOffer.com, eBay.com - all set up in nearly identical fashion, may have a motive that might relate to personal financial reward. I could be wrong, but it is the only rational explanation for the marked and unyielding favoritism.
Your probably not wrong but lots of people have ego's the size of Ney York City and that often compromises rationale, what I was getting at though was how dmoz have the cheek to continue to portray themselves as the 'people's directory' when in reality if people have a vested interest in its financial viability as it appears then they need to take away the marketing tool of being for the people by the poeple.
