What is more profitable to the website owner?

1.Displaying Google advertisements,or displaying the advertisements directly of the company that wants to advertise on my site, without bringing Google into the picture?

    2. Google advertisements, or other affiliate programs?

Very exactly. Both can work very well. Just testing both to see which way you can make more money.

To me it determines what niche you are in, information niche or service related area, then maybe google, if physical amazon, downloadable could be from clickbank

For a website that is not a business one is ok.
Google ads is also good for blogs and forums.

A problem with using advertisements directly from the companies is finding the actual companies themselves, and then establishing trust and getting them to pay you. Google does that all automatically for you, making thins so much easier.

It also comes down to what type of website you're running. For a typical blog/forum, I'd suggest Adsense. if you're running a product-oriented site, however, I'd recommend Prosperent.com - they're a pretty cool new startup ad network that focuses on products. They basically work the same way like Adsense by displaying in-page ads, but work on a CPS or commission basis.

    Good luck!

i can suggest google ads are best to earn money but other affiliate marketing like clickbank is good too. you can try both of them. you can earn money from google every day.

it take some time to earn huge amount money from affiliate marketing. but once you get a lead then there will be nice delicious foods with bread before your table believe me.
