is directorys worth it?

    I have seen people setting up directorys etc nowdays and i was thinking of trying it out. But i wonder, is it worth it? is therer anyting to earn from it ?

    I think you should give it a go. Get some hosting and throw a free directory script up. There isn't too much leg work behind it and they are easy to login and approve links..etc. Might as well take it on as a side project :)

    I would advice to start small, don't invest a lot of money to do it first. Get it going with as less money as possible, test the water, if it is promising, then, move to a dedicated server.

    directories suck.


    I started a affiliate one that actually reviews programs and not just a junk directory. 3 months later it gets almost zero traffic, even though its on the first page for a very good term on msn.


    Not only is it hard getting traffic, but the only people that click on ads at these sites are other webmaters, and its hard for them to convert or to get a good clik through rate.

    And, no, they are not.

    But since it takes so little time to submit to the biggest ones, which are only just a few of them, go for it anyway.

    Yeah...I wouldn't pay for any listings in directories...but if you can get in free, it can't hurt!
