Is directory submission still good for SEO ?

    Ok guys so i came to a result that Directory submission helps but the amount is little
    Also directory submission is good for new website to get the head start up
    Am i right ?

    That was only for the Fox River, ssandecki. ;) And that was about 35 years ago. We've since cleaned the river up (I used to go swimming in it - and look what happened to me!).

    Via directory submissions, you will get free abcklinks. However, I personally no longer do directory submissions as for a site for which I manually submitted it to 1000+ directory, I only see 10 to 15 back links from these directories in google webmaster tools and yahoo site explorer.

    As long as you stay away from the bad "neighbourhoods" any inbound link counts for your keyword ranking.

    Although google still owns the market, it's probably important to keep in mind that there are in fact, other search engines out there who's algorithms use "back links" as a huge priority in ranking. So yes, absolutely.
