Nope it doesn't. Absolute waste of time. There's also a big chance Google will penalize your site for having spam backlinks.

Google has clearly devalued directory links in general. They don't give much (if any) credit to backlinks to your web pages that you control, which is the case with directory links.

Try to submit your site to Yahoo directory or Dmoz and few other very popular sites. Other than that don't bother with directories. My recommendation is of PR of directory is 5 or more then Ok otherwise don't waste your time.

Directory submissions have been dead for years. Unless of course you own one or a hundred of them.

Here is what Matt Cutts says about directories and their role for SEO :

    http://jamesnorquay.com/an-interview-ex-member-matt-cuttss-search-quality-team/

    Here is what he said:

"Second, don’t dismiss directories completely. I have heard people talking about directories being altogether bad and advise people to avoid them. This is not the case, good quality, moderated directories, or niche directories are still worth looking in to."

From what we can conclude that directories do have some SEO value, but you should use them the right way.

Morally I need to tell the truth and say NO it does not work, but everyone here has done a great job of telling you lies.

Directory submission is 100% dead and the #1 reason for unnatural link penalties.

Directory submission still works but a paradigm shift is in order. I have read a lot of the posts here and it seems like you can't say SEO without referring to Google. Who says Google will always be the top dog for information? Not too long ago people thought that the earth was the center of the universe. In this same vane, web designers thought their website was the center of their internet universe. However, nowadays there are many companies who get more traffic on their Facebook page than they do on their main website. Or more people read company’s Tweets than visit their website. This thinking would have been blasphemy 10 years ago but is now our internet reality. So my recommendation is get your website out in front of many people using directories and web 2.0 sites and don't worry too much about Google.

Directory Submissions are useful when your are doing in right manner i.e. you have to submit with local or your niche related directories. And also all websites must be well-reputed.
