    I havent tried directory submission at all. THe best way is blog commenting and also article submission

    Might be called as old trend, but its effective and very important.

    Directory submissions should be part of your link building strategies but not the only strategy.

    Though its a old method it can add values to your site .You may get good SERP for some keywords.Besides,there is no problem to get yourself listed.

    Its no more effective now even article marketing is getting ineffective. This is the SEO game. But don't worry someone with ideas like twitter will come along to save internet marketing.

    I don't think it has much value. I don't go for directories unless they are of very good quality.

    Directory submission is useful only for long-term strategy for linkbuilding, and need to have money for that, because nearly all good directories with high PR (and only those will give any link juice) are not free. And with all the variety of different linkbuidling methods it might not be as efficient and economically justified as it was in old times :)

    Wow, no. Directory submission is in no way an old trend. It's huge if you want to start making some money from your site because it gives your page a huge boost of traffic once yo get on the first page.

    What do you mean by "improve free backlink" ?
    I think "improve free backlink" and "improve backlink" are same..
    Put your keywords in the text of backlink.

    Directory submission is an old trend, but still keep doing this to improve your PR..

    Directory submission is still very effective while doing link-building. The issue is that there are many spam directories out there, which make it difficult for people to discern.

    Search engines still give weight to quality directories that are well maintained, edited and managed. However, many don't even show up in search results because of spam listings and selling links.

    Directory submission is old school now. Google removed it from their recommendations. They no longer value links from search engines. I dont think even DMOZ link has a value anymore

    Blog posting ? Come on... blogs have nofollow on links, so you don't get any pr ( or backlink ) from that blog. Maybe some traffic. Directory submission is not valued as high by google as once was. But it's still a good idea to have your link in an directory. NOT ANY DIRECTORY. Try to submit to old directory, with good pr and many indexed pages.

    i dont think it is not an old fashioned idea..in my opinionit it is a very effective way to promote your idea or product.In a resource box,link can be given.
    article directories rank your article in google.
    A person should submit articles in order to make links and promote a product or blog.

    It's an old trend, an old way to get backlinks, it still works but it's much better to do articles to get backlinks or do reciprocal with 3 sites and different IP's, linkcrossing.
