directory submission is no longer as efficient given the explosion in the methods of building backlinks. moreover, there are too many spam directories online.

 

Directory Submissions lost their charm ! This form of link building strategy lost its value. As there are toooo many spam directories SEs follow new algorithms. They never give importance/weightage to them. Its a very old trend !

I agree with cchol, there are lots of other good ways of link building like social bookmarking,articles,blogs.

 

You don't need to submit to all of the directories but I would definitely say it's a good idea to submit your site to at least Google and Yahoo, because I know for a fact that those are huge traffic boosters.

 

Im not agree concerning to dir. submissions. They help especially the directories which have high PR, but there are many ways to create backlinks such as article submitting, forum posting with links pointing to Your site and so.

Yes it is an old and established trend still used on a daily basis by tens of thousands of people i would imagine. non of that gimmicky stuff with directories fortunately.

Try directory submissions yourself otherwise you will never know for sure.

 

Depends on the quality of the backlinks of course. I submitted to premium directories pr8 + everything depends. Natural linkbuliding of course is the best. Get other people to link to you by providing useful content.

there are thousands of directories there , submitting to some can benefit your link development ,while submitting to others wont do your link juice much good , if you wanna see the quality of a directory check their pagerank,alexa rank and how many pages indexed in google.

 

It's an old one, but it can still be useful so long as you do it the smart way. Concentrate on submitting to 20 or 30 of the leading directories for your topic and, if it's appropriate, your region. Follow their guidelines. Don't mess around with lists of 2000 directories that no-one's ever heard of, because you'll be wasting your time and getting little in return.

 

I don't think directories listing is that efficient... but it doesn't hurt to get list in the few good ones

 

I think directories listing is useful but... You should use only nice resourses like a Yandex dir, DMOZ and so on...

Directory submissions is still the best method for building backlinks. Other methods do not work as well as directory submissions.

 

I think that blog posting and article writing work too, but dir. submitting also plays a great role for gaining backlinks.
