No, and I would suggest to take other platforms to submit your content because most of the directory submission are premium and worst are low quality sites.

Automated directory submission is the rage nowadays. But don't be fooled into thinking that automatic directory submission software is all you're going to need to get your website on the web. If you don't do it right, you just might end up being banned from search engine sites. If you want to automate directory submission, you still must first do some work manually requesting reciprocal links from reputable websites.

You put your link at the pages where some relevant content are there and the link should be "dofollow" which not available in directories. So you should not accept directory links

Directory listings are okay to use for SEO, as long as they quality of the directory website is verified. Suggestions I would make are, seek out business directories, and directories that have a reliable verification method. An example of a business directory that I would recommend is Manta.com - This we offer free business listings for websites and online businesses. They provide many great features for commerce based businesses. Listing owners are able to add up to 30 products with a link back to each product in your store.

Here is a link to an example of a business listing at Manta that was added for Parts Replacement Store - Garage Door Parts

This directory submission that was added for the garage door parts replacement store includes links to products with description photos, custom profile pictures, offerings, and details included under brands carried or sold. The company address with a map is included in the listing, which helps with Geolocation SEO for sites that need it.

Depends if you are looking to get backlinks for bots or humans.
When I search on search engines, its weird I get links to directories. But to forums, blogs and other niche centered on the keywords I am using for the search. Rather than directory links, I would focus more on creating links on forums related to your niche.

10 years ago directories and article directories worked very well. NOT TODAY!

Most free directories are spammed to hell. The search engines recognise that fact and their algorithms ignore those directories (as poor quality sites) and assign no value to links to your site.

Proof: even in this thread some people mention "automated submission" tools. That is also what spammers use (but not all users are spammers). What is the value of submitting the same text or a list of variations to whole bunch of sites (that are full of spam)? Zero. And you will not get any SEO boost.

Now, the only time it is worth registering with a directory is if you are in a specialist industry e.g. 'medical cardiological equipment' and there is a medical equipment distributor that has a directory.

After 22 years experience I can tell you today what works is quality content focused on a specific market sector or demographic ... and TRAFFIC. Yes, news is emerging that Google is now looking at natural traffic (with no tricks)! So if you are getting good quality natural traffic, then Google rewards you with more.

Regarding quality content, by having valuable info/tools/services others will naturally begin to link to you as a reference site and your domain gets mentioned on social media. Those are the best ways to rise thru the search ranks without spending precious time trying to manipulate the system and please search engines.

Yes, You should go with directory submission as it provides do-follow link, but you need to ensure directory website should be relevant, trustworthy and thematic.

Google will see directories the same as any other website. So if you find a directory with a good DA or PR, low outgoing links per page, good content, RELEVANT CONTENT (very important) then you are on a winner. One backlink from a good directory with the same content as your own will be worth an infinate amount more than one from a non related website.

There are very few directories worth any value. But if you are lucky, there maybe one or two in your industry really worth gaining a backlink from.

The best technique is to search for a web directory in a search engine, but include the industry you are in such as "photography directory".

Dmoz and yahoo directory isn't really all that important in 2016. Relevant backlinks are.
