hi, Now a days seo is changing and new methods of links available then now directories is useful coz its very time consuming and most of directories taking time to submit. What would be alternative? Thanks
SEO is not really "changing" it is "expanding" which gives users a more option to broadcast it's contents. It takes time to do anything as it has always been, the alternative is to take a new hobby like flying a kite or hire some one to do the job for you if you don't have the time to commit. And how many more related post must be answered? This question has been posted and answered several times not long ago.
I think that waiting for months is pointless ... directories were useful in the days before Google. Nowadays it may be even dangerous to use them - some of them may send you in the Sandbox ... Since there are many more useful, effective and fast ways ... who uses directories nowadays ? The search engines look for context , not just the link and the description (i'm not sure meta tags matter, too). So you need to have texts around your link, and a topic and keywords that are similar with yours. I'm not saying Directories are useless, just not that important to focus on.
Some are useful, some are not. Waiting costs nothing in most cases, directories are probably more useful since google came along, not dangerous "to" use them, it can be dangerous "how" you use them. Please name the many, more useful ways that you suggested above. Who uses them? Everyone from personal site owners to ecommerce sites, and the very large companies and corporations worldwide. You mean they look for content, context is how it is presented i think? Meta tags might as well be used if you can, as long as they are used normally, a short description, 5 - 10 meta keywords not repeated. Nobody focuses on directories, they just use them, usually as part of a combined effort. Not as part of a calorie controlled diet though they cant make you lose weight, lol They are great though, simple, they do what they need to do.
Directories are a good base for your backlink building efforts, people saying they are useless are most likely the types who submit to nothing but free or paid useless junk directories, these people really shouldn't comment as they have no idea.
So you believe that: results/time taken in directories is worthy compared with social networks, blogs, feeds, forums and so on efforts ?
Depends what directories your talking about, if you submit to useless ones what do you think you will get out of it, same can be said for forums, blogs and feeds. Do you post useless comments on blogs? Is that how you reduce time? Or do you post a well thought out useful comment? If you do it would be no shorter than filling out a submission form with a useful firefox plugin.
Personally, i would say that directories is good only if it's a quality one. Quality is much better than quantity. Btw, i find this very interesting. Do you mind sharing with me what do you mean by using a useful firefox pugin? Thanks
He means the "Autofill Forms" plugin in firefox, there are many others though ... this one is simple to use, but others are able to reserve you an air ticket alone I used to work in a travel software company ...
I am not agree with some views, I think Directories plays an important role. but all the directories are not useful, some are not actually. hire to someone if you don't have time for doing this instead to ignore it.
Some directories are useful while some are not, actually some are waste of time, all you need is a high quality human edited directory, the number of directories you submit to does not count, what matters is the quality.
They are all "worthy", every method you mention above has value. The question is; do you have the time to commit to these methods of driving traffic? If not, simply outsource.
Yes I think also directory submissions is still use full factor for SEO.It brings more traffic and backward links to your websites....
I believe directories are still useful. Be it free directories or premium ones. They provide you with links with desired anchor text (most of them). I agree that there are 1000s of bad directories out there, but that shouldn't prevent you from going for the free ones.
