Depends, If you think PR and traffic is good, then yes :p

Every directory will get you closer to a higher PR, and every directory gives you traffic (very bad ones will get you like 1, good ones can get you alot more)

If even not for the traffic, for the backlink, which all helps to increase your ranking.

Some new directories may not help you now, but as they get more pagerank in the future, it will help your site in the future too.

Most directories will keep your link as long as they exist, unless the directory requires yearly payment like Yahoo or bCentral.

If you are serious about it, you might want to record the url of the page where you are linked so you can use a script to check to see that you are still listed. It would be rare to have a listing removed after it is added, but it does happen. Resubmitting when you are already listed can be considered rude.

Sure it will , assuming the directory has good content, traffic, PR, and a host of other factors crucial to good SEO. Getting links is one thing, getting good links, now that goes a long way to building a site importance in the eyes of the SE's.

Good luck. While you're ad it, feel free to submit to the KingBloom Directory at http://www.kingbloom.com

    Take care.

Not all directories are created equal (obviously). That said, there are some directories to which I would not submit my sites whether the submission is free or not. Such directories include: a) crappy looking ones b) low PR and seo un-friendly urls c) build-for-adsense look d) i just can't imagine they will be around 6 months from now

I find directory submissions to be extremely effective, especially for new sites. You need links to get good rankings. A link exchange program is really tough when you have low PR.

I have quite a few sites that are ranking well with predominantly links from directories.

In addition to it, there is a factor called link age. Search engines these days take into account the age of incoming link to your site - the older the better.

So even if the directory submissions do not bring any benefit now, they would bring so in a few months as your link ages. Especially true in case of directories that offer permanent links.

I plan on having my sites for a long while, so even the low PR directories are worth it.

Normally they are easier to get into, and you are accepted faster. If they are a descent directory they will probably raise their PR in time, Google doesn't seem to like to count directory links until they have aged a while so you might as well start them as soon as you can.
