Is direct linking still viable on the Content network? (Oct 2009)

In light of the recent big slap for "poor quality landing pages" is it still a viable strategy to do direct linking on Googles content network now in Oct 2009?

I'm particularly interested in the non-CPA stuff like CJ and Shareasale. Is direct linking to those kinds of offers still do-able, or will you get a bad enough QS that essentially kills your ROI?

I don't completely understand the question. Are you asking whether the content network is worth running ads to? If that's your question, my answer is yes.

I just read that article in the post above, and what I'm getting is that direct linking on the content network is only good for initial testing? Is that correct?

Is there anyone here successfully using direct linking on the content network for something beyond just testing? (meaning, longer term, but without any landing pages)
