is Digital point is starting to sound like a regime?

i just read a statement on Politics and religion that says
If you don't have something nice to say, don't say it (you will be banned).

Do you think DP should ban users for giving out their honest opinions on subjects whether they are good or bad?.

or you think they have gone too far as telling you what you can say and what you cant say? you think they are violating your freedom of speech?

Do you think they are being too harsh on their people or you think its a necesary rule to impeach free thinkers?

Do you think people should be restrained for their thoughts?

for exmple i cant say that the previous pope looked evil,or that bush is the reincarnated devil hahaha will i get banned for saying this?, why everything i say has to be fine and dandy?

There is no freedom of speech protections here. This is a privately owned website.

I have some reservations about the new Digital Point but I must say that it is quite important to keep those rules into place for the Politics and Religion part of the forums. Simply because, allowing people to say nasty things about certain religions could cause DP to get blocked in certain parts of the world. Also, you do not really want to offend people belonging to different faiths just because you feel like it.

I have gotten away (frankly speaking) with a ton of stuff. I lose my temper, say something inappropriate then think to myself, "now I'm gonna get an infraction" and I don't. So no complaints from me but.....this freedom that we are allowed here ought to come with some caveats. I just *HATE* when some members attack a whole group of people (certain countries). One member in particular as far as I'm concerned might be a racist.
As the mods can tell you I am not one to report. I've made 3 or 4 reports in the 2 years I've been here. But I did report this one member on here. Hopefully his posts will be monitored.
Anyway I do believe that there is freedom of speech here for the mostpart.

I doubt you would be banned for that. The problem is from there things escalate. And sometimes someone has to put a stop to it.

I have seen things escalate to where death threats are involved.

I don't call it a regime. I call it responsible (and absolutely needed) rules.

So Shawn you are saying that if im in a public street in the USA i have freedom of speech, and the minute i walk in a McDonalds to order a burger i don't have freedom of speech because im inside privately owned company?, so workers at a factory in the US don't have freedom of speech while working because they are in a privately owned factory?

Which is the case. And you don't need a law degree to figure that one out.

Uhmm.. Do you "really" think if your thought/view is going to kindle some fire or unwanted repercussions among other members, it has to be expressed for sure? No, I do not think so.

This is a public forum and "for sure" the owner cannot permit that!

As far your examples are concerned, Yes McD will have its own norms. You cannot sit inside a McD and talk loudly passing comments which demean other people's sentiments who are nearby. Surely you would be chucked out! Workers do have freedom of speech. but, they do not have any rights to spread unwanted or unpleasant feelings among the coworkers!

    And then:
How about applying common sense rather than making not too well thought out posts with like-begging at the bottom?

    Your thread title is:
I could be wrong, but the note regarding P&R section has been there for quite a while. It's fair enough, considering it's a privately run forum and not a country.

Did you actually read the posts in that section? And around the forum? I think you didn't before making your post. Otherwise, you would have seen what many people post and maybe it would have finally clicked what the rule means?

    regards
