lol at least they can find my site on the first page :)

As i see they have been fixing their images to correspond with
the actual site and the results have been getting better.

Will see how it does in next few months...

Is cuil a new hope for directory owners ?

Doesnt cuil search pages threw content and not link popularity?
If so then i fail to see how they would help directories...

    thx

Cuil is not a very good search engine...

So automatically it's not a new hope for directory owners...

What hope does another webmaster directory give exactly? It's bound to be built from a cheap script, just like the 50'000 others out there :(

It will be useless - mark my words.

Choose quality and results, and I mean real results here and not just a few clicks.

Yes it's a start but they should have put more into it...

If you search for search term with 4 or more words it would return empty results..

I was a little surprised at the crudeness ( email ) of their "add a url" functionality.
However, google was pretty crude at first as well.

just dropped them an "email" about my new whois site,
has to be a waste of time reading emails like these,.... why not just build a form!
or are they going the directory way, filtering at the entry level?
so they donat have to hire a guy like cutt! :p

I do think that cuil has some potential - reporting sites via email does seem pretty outdated and they still don't have that problem with the images sorted out yet. They will improve though.

I'm curious as to why do directory owners need a 'new hope'

    What's wrong with things currently?

The fact that many are selling their directories when they only make $100 a month gives you the answer.

    Other telling signs are:

    Saturation point of directories
    Limited potential of dir scripts
Lack of understanding of what's involved
    Zero budgets available to webmasters
Anyone can get on the web disease
    Endless novice questions on forums
The clueless acting like Big business men
    Nothing original happening with directories
    Blind leading the blind

So a new hope is needed, but many lack the creativity required to achieve this new hope. There lies the problem and the solution.

You know you keep knocking directories, but couldn't the same be said of all the blogs out there?

    agreed.

it can be said for any type of website. event_king's probably doesn't have any real life friends, so he comes to the interweb to vent it off. just nevermind him ;)

I jumped on CUIL - and I was less than impressed. It's going to take much more than THAT to overtake Google.

What does everybody think about www.hophunt.com ?

Yes much more and also much more time....any new search engine is going to really show some strong sustainability and great search results (which cuil hasn't) over an extended period of time to win over everyday web surfers. They will probably also have to have a ton of cash for promotion and advertising.

Ofcourse, there are some suspect blogs out there. Then again bad quality and bad ideas can apply to anything web based, especially when people don't think about what their doing, or putting out there.

Food for thought is it not :)

I have morals, and am what I am, but never try to be something I'm not on a forum.

Oh yes ofcourse it SECRETS you're after - those magical posts that tell you what to do, how to do it and will bring a rush of millions who will buy from you with no questions asked or care when they get ripped off. That's what you really want isn't it, someone to do the work for you, while you sit back on some beach in a far away country.

Well, I'm sorry to break this to you, but that's never going to happen to you, and I don't hand out 'secrets' to those that attack me.
