Is copyright that simple?

I just wanna ask - can copyright of anything, say a book or a website, can be done simply by adding a sentence "All rights reserved" and copyright symbol or you have to register it somewhere at some offices to get it copyrighted?

It must be officially registered, try copyright dot gov

Anyone one can add the text and symbol to make it semi-official. You need legal papers to claim ownership.

In the US (and most other countries), your copyright attaches to your work product at the time you create it. Neither a copyright notice nor registration is necessary. However, there are procedural advantages to registration that should not be ignored.

Yeah, that is how I understand it as well. I believe registration helps when there are claims of infringement or violations.

Totally anyone can claim something, but the one thing that validate the facts is the legal papers.

In the U.S., your work is copyrighted immediately upon publication. However, registering the copyright provides the most benefits. It costs $35, but if your work is copyrighted before an infringement occurs, you can sue for damages, attorney costs and fees.

Un-registered copyrights & trademarks are practically as worthless as not having one at all. You really need to register them, otherwise, you'll have a lot of "proving" to do.
