Looking at the rates at which articles are offered here, I fail to understand how people can manage to write good quality content.

Some people even offer 4-5 articles of 300+ words at ridiculously low rates. It makes me wonder if they are really genuine or copy-pasted.

    Regards,

i haven't had much luck in finding freelance work online. the only writing gig i ever won was someone willing to pay me to spam, which i not-so-respectfully declined.. now i'm focusing on blogging and writing offline.

    This question is timeless...

It's not what writing you do - it's how you position yourself.

    Let me explain.

You can be a content writer writing for websites etc.

Or you can write to sell. In other words, you're removing the creative element and approaching this as a viable business model.

When you approach writing from the point of view as you're writing to sell (whether that's for your services, your clients products, services, ideas, messages) then you reduce the ability to rely on what type of writer you are.

Content writing is (and will always be) in demand. However, you have to look at what types of clients you want and how much you value your services.

    Start with -

Why should someone use my services?
Who/what will be my target market?
How will I effectively broadcast my services to those I believe will benefit?

The goal here is to have a strategic plan of action in order to get your service in the hands of those who will buy those services. Once this is determined - you will have a better course of action - a blueprint which will allow you to profit from your effort.

    Enjoy the ride.

You can write whatever you want, but to make money by doing this you should learn to market yourself, and also research the market. Make a plan on what, when, and how to do. Good luck.
