Is content really KING?

People say this cliche all the time, but the question is, is it true. Do you really need great content to get a lot of traffic? What are your thoughts?

It depends on what you want.

For ranking? No it's not. If you know what you're doing you can rank pages with next to no content, or really really bad content.

Now, for keeping those rankings, yeah, you need some good content. If your site is number 3 in google, but has an average time on page of 10 seconds and a bounce rate of 90%... well, sooner or later you will fall.

Content is very good for getting natural rankings. If you write something good, if you offer something good, unique, different, helpful, people will link to you. They will tweet about you, share your stuff on facebook and google +, thus bringing more people and slowly creating you a natural back link profile.

The way I usually do things is I write one piece of good content, and then see if I can rank. If I can't, I don't bother and move on to the next project. If I do rank however, I immediately start writing some more quality content and building trust.

Long term content is king. However I've ranked a lot of pages with no content whatsoever, just key text and images. So short term, just backlinks and page structure matter. However if I have no quality content, I know the page is not going to generate any organic links, hurting the long-term product.

 

Quality and fresh content ranks good in search engine, it would give you natural links too, and it is helpful to the society as well, which Google loves, thats why content is king.

 

Quality content is always played an important role if you content is good then you search engine will appreciate it and you will clearly see your traffic within few days.

 

Image and presentation get one-time hits; content keeps people.

It's similar to the dating scene, really. If you are good-looking with a bad personality, you'll get one-night stands (good image/presentation gets hits). If you have good looks and a good heart, you'll attract long-term relationships (good presentation and good content). If you are ugly but have a good heart, you probably won't attract many people, but you may attract a few long-term relationships (poor presentation/reputation, but good content).
