I also agree with the above/above post. :D You can fill a website up with tons of content but if you can't get the visitors there, it becomes a waste of time. You've got to optomize it for the SE's (particularly Google), you've got to keep it updated regularly, etc. Success with a website consists of a system of many things working together.

I wouldn't say that it was king. It's more like an essential ingredient.

There's just no point investing time into building links and getting traffic, if you've got bad content on your site.

There are a lot of sites out there with very little content, yet they have a lot of traffic.

    Well put.

Wow, Very good information here and I do like everyone's opinions too.

Now, how do SEs know whether or not, that the content you wrote is good or bad?

"Content is King" - A lot or a little?

Marketing brings 'em to your site but content keeps 'em there. Wish I had a dollar for every boring site I clicked away from to find more interesting content.

    Quite Frankly,

Those who troll on here are looking for quick fix solutions and have spent hours if not years on marketing-the question presented on this forum is an easy answer for them because most of the people on this forum could care a rats ass about the content they peddle and only care about the conversion and the dollars..So of course to them marketing means it all regardless if they are right or wrong.
They see the world from a different lens.

Some of the biggest and most profiting companies online aren't doing any content development. I think what you will find though is that without it, you will have to have a marketing budget to spread the word about your website.

Another benefit to content is creating trust. Good content will help others seek your advice on other related topics. But you do not HAVE to have content to be successful. That would definitely be a myth.

Everything depends on what you are trying to sell. Good content is indispensable for certain types of businesses, but this is not a rule. You may have excellent content at your sites, but have only curious readers that stay around reading and thinking, without ever buying anything.

If there was no content then how could you be indexed on Google?

Yes. For me, content is still a top priority when building a website especially because without it, you can't really implement any other SEO technique. Good content is a win-win situation because search engines and visitors always look for new content.
