Is commenting more than once on the same blog effective?

So I've been commenting on some blogs related to my niche and everything's peachy keen, but I started wondering if repeatedly commenting on the same blog but on different posts/topic will provide another strong backlink or will it have no effect after the first backlink? I'm just wondering because there are some blogs that I love to go back to because they're interesting and I always leave another comment and link on various updated posts. Thanks for any input on this.

If you can then use it to get links to new pages for better indexing. Commenting on same blog won't harm your site even if you don't consider it that effective.

Google claims they count each page on a domain as unique and individual, so links from different pages should count. Sitewide-links seem to be depreciated, but I don't know where the line is drawn on having "too many" links from the same domain.

And of course, the initial value of a single link is dependent on anchor text, subjects the page is optimized for, number of other outbound links, and whether or not its got the "no_follow" attribute attached.
