not with a specific pay check...go back and read my post...regardless of whether they get a pay check or not, I would bet they are getting something. If nothing else the national attention is worth $$ as well...I never said they get a specific pay check.

So you are saying because Oprah may have had a coke paid for by the campaign, her endorsement is bought and paid for? And that without these perks she would not be endorsing Obama?

Frankly I don't get your point unless you were implying that celebrities were endorsing candidates for some financial benefit. Otherwise you were just pointing out the obvious, that campaign volunteers and workers sometimes get a free meal or a room to stay in when they travel. Geez, you blew the lid open with that find.

Yeah the whole bringing up Oprah thing isn't too keen of an idea. The idea that Oprah is getting anything from endorsing Obama is insanity. It's not like she needs the publicity or the money. You do realize she's the richest woman in the country? She's a billionaire. If anything she's risking some of her popularity with conservative viewers of her TV program.

I didn't insult your girlfriend, give it a rest. I actually don't insult anyone here, it's not my thing.

But I will say one thing: when you mess with Chuck Norris, don't be surprised when you get kicked in the balls :D

I know you didn't, but you insulted me directly about my density just to stick up for Gtech. From what I saw when I first came here, he doesn't need anyone sticking up for him.

Anyway, at least after I insult someone I will usually admit to it. Like right now I'll admit that I've been insulting you and Gtech this whole thread.

I agree. You did not make an insult. Your style is more condescending and arrogant. Definitely not insulting.

Never said she WAS supporting for the financial benefit...I just don't think they are doing it for free...Oprah doesn't need to do anything, but that doesn't mean people don't pay her for things she does.

So again you are claiming that the celebrities are not doing it [endorsing candidates] for free. That means you think they are doing it for money or some other ulterior motive. Yet you offer nothing but your own imagination as support.

How much are you be paid to support your candidate?

I would think you would realize that most people support a candidate (and offer their name as an endorsement) not to gain some personal benefit from the candidate in return, but to help support a candidate they think will be good for the country.

A couple other thoughts. I think it would probably be against the law, and certainly against public policy, to allow the selling of endorsements anyway. Nor do I think any candidate would be stupid enough to do such a thing. If it came out that someone had bought and paid for an endorsement they would be mocked and chided for such action. Maybe I am just naive, but the idea that any of the current Presidential candidates would corrupt the system by tacitly paying for a celebrity endorsement seems unlikely to say the least.

I doubt very much that Chuck Norris is getting paid to endorse anyone.. No one could afford to get Chuck Norris to do anything. He is after all, Chuck Norris.

Do keep in mind that Chuck Norris is and has been a Republican for some time. It would come as no surprise that he would endorse someone that is like minded. Not 100% though, because no one can be 100% like minded to Chuck Norris.

Chuck Norris is the only guy I know what can do a wheelie on a uni-cycle.. If he is for Huckabee, it's because Chuck Norris knows something we all do not. I've never been one to question Chuck Norris, and I am not about to start now.
