    Hello Dpers,

I am told that the US thinks that Canada is also a part of their territory. In the sense that you take them for granted for all issues and all.

    Is it true ??

No, I don't believe so. I grew up 4 miles on the US side of the Canadian border so we were back and forth all the time and there were very definite differences. I've never met an American who thought Canada was part of the U.S.

I know technically they are two different ones.
I am just saying that I was told that most people in Canada think that the Americans assume that Canada is their own territory, a cloooose friend and take it for granted.

If someone from the US happens to travel to France, he will feel different , but when its Canda, there is no to very subtle difference.

This is what i am trying to convey ????

Yes...... they are different countries...... but there is no great diff to be in US and Canada.. and they don't have any dispute or military issues.. they are smooth going, and hence people feel as same country people

That's like saying there is no difference between France and Germany. Or India and China.

All countries are influenced by their neighbours. But as far as I'm concerned, Canada is as far from the US as Australia is :)
(which in both cases is probably not far enough)

Canada is not a part of The United States of America (USA). Both are separate countries in the North American Continent

Yes they are different countries,, and I know this because some of my Irish ancestors fought hard to make it so.. As did the ancestors of a lot of other European nations.. That’s what we Europeans do, we move into new worlds, displace the original natives, then go about the business of building A new Country..
