I read on another forum, that buying expired domains would be a good way to increase traffic to your own site, because when they try to go to it they will be redirected to your site. Good idea, or would it just hurt more than help?
seems like there is already answer for this... forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=660621 google is just too smart... I know you're reading this google..
It can be a good idea if that traffic converts well. Otherwise it will be nothing but a waste of bandwidth.
It is better to look for domains with good relevant keywords for your niche. Then, if you fill it with some relevant content, it must look very relevant for Google. And even if it is expired, Google might not notice it immidiately, so you have to buy it really fast after expiration You just need to put an eye on keyword rich domains that are about to expire
I totally agree: buying expired domains with good relevant keywords for your particular needs is a very effective and cheap SEO approach. You are not only driving traffic to your website but also could develop those domains for link building.
I would definitely use them for link building, and if you get them before they drop (they expire about 50 days before they actually drop) they will show continuous age, and usually will keep their PR. If you are looking to just redirect the traffic, you won't have much luck if the domains were in your niche (market). Bill
