is buying backlinks bad for google? i know that google does not like paid links but if they see that you have suddenly increased your number or backlinks can it actually hurt your rating or is this just all a myth? i see many people buying links from like 100's of blogs for the backlinks and just wondering if this does more harm than good?

    your input?

Its more risky for a site to sell links rather than to buy them.

If Google finds out you are buying links, you will be badly penalized. I am not sure of the exact process Google uses to determine which links are paid and which are not, but I will say this - they are accurate about it, so they have some way to tell.

It is not a recommended strategy.

Buying links still works but you have to be careful about it.

Buy links from only related sites, and sites that don't excessively promote link selling on it.

Once found out by google you can pretty much say bye to the cash that you paid for the link as it will be devalued.

    Google-Skynet is now online.

Honestly, I don't believe that Google can track all of the paid links on the web. I mean, there are millions of web pages, and billions of links on the web. There's no way even the almighty Google can keep track of them all. I'd say your'e fairly safe.

Buying a link is one kind of Black hat SEO technique,
It's does not harmful to your website well not helpful too.
When Google finds your paid links it will not allow to pass any page rank to your website from those links.

If you have some random links on your front page or have a paid directory they will know for sure, my directory went from pr5 to a pr0 overnight I'm assuming because of paid links. I really cannot be sure though. I decided to go ahead and make it a free directory.

Buying backlinks dpesn't necessary boost your traffic. If the main gole is to impress Google and other search engines is never safe in the long time frame. At the same time, the dosage makes a slight change that you are looking for.

Some sites will put the term "sponsored links" next to their paid links this makes it much easier for google to know that it's a paid link.

If you suddenly gain tons of links google may see that as spam, or at least not natural link gaining. If you're going to buy, do so on related sites, and at a steady rate so that it looks more organic.
