Is blog commenting bad for new sites?

I read this in a post from a DP member that sells blog commenting services:

My "new" site is 1.5 months old and has no PR yet. Would intense (let's say 100+) blog commenting harm my link building?

Any suggestions/info/advice on this?

 

I would suggest that you pursue links from a number of sources, which would look more natural to the search engines.

 

Thats not true. New or old you can get link from blogs.

 

Since your site is so new anyway, Google doesn't trust it much to begin with, so unless you're building 100s of links a day from one source, you should be okay.

 

This would also depend on how quickly you received those links, although I don't think 100 is enough to be concerned about.

What Google is especially looking for is when a new site receives 2,000 links over night (especially when all of the links have the same anchor text).

When this kind of behavior happens it is a clear sign that the linking is not natural, and is some kind of campaign (usually automated software) to artificially inflate the link popularity.

If you receive 100 links over the period of 5-7 days (or even longer), this should not be any kind of problem for you at all.

I will spread my link building campaign and also pursue links from other sources (besides blog commenting) as well.

 

forum posting is ok too, you can get thousands from it.

 

Blog walking, and then make blog commenting is good, But you have appear in the SE before do it.

Never be a spammer when you do the blog commenting. Blog commenting is as good as building backlink.

 

I think you should go for blog commenting because It would be worth investing because you can get more backlinks plus you will you key word up at google search.

Blog commenting works equally well for a new site as well, if done with little moderation. Anything done in excess is bad for all sites... be it new or old!

I would recomend to do atleast 20 blog commenting a day. 100 is too much and might get your site penalize.

You should try to comment Blogs which are indexed by google and it is better if you comment on the blogs with good PR

 

Don't focus too much on PR. But it's normal that you have no PR after 1 1/2 months, Google only updates PR every few months.

 

blod commenting helps..but it does not pass huge benefits..rather try more relevent links

 

Everything in moderation. Mix this technique with other methods and you will reap the benefits.

 

Don't just do blog commenting, use other methods and you'll see improvement.

 

Are you using the signature in DP to get links as well?
If that Girl Games is your new website, I think you have to do some onpage seo as well.
Since each thread in DP is a link, and commenting on each blog post is a link, getting a hundred links within an hour or two is very easy. Just participate in 50 discussion threads here, and look for 5 blogs with many blog posts, make a comment on 10 different blog posts in each blog. That will make it 100 links.

 

Pursue other avenues as well like other posters pointed out. Forums, Blogs, Social Bookmarking Websites, Classifieds or other communities. Do not overdo your link building campaign as you may get sandboxed or penalized in some way.

 

I would say write a few articles - ezines etc -it's worked well for me.
