Is blog commenting an effective way of link building...

There are some reason that makes me think whether blog commenting is an effective way of link building...

    1) Blogs that are with do follow are vulnerable to spammers.
    2) Quite a lot of links from comments from one liner comments.
    3) Now a days quality comments are very rare to see.
    4) Not any reputed websites involve in SEO blog commenting.

OK, now can cany one prove that blog commenting is effective by increasing your backlinks or SERPS.

Please do let us know and we shall discuss it here.

    Thanks
    Luther

I think blog commenting makes a lot of sense for increasing back links and SERPS.

Google SERP is dominating by those sites who builds lots of links that are mostly dofollow for that targeted keywords .

so if you want to achieve high rankings on SERPs, you must have to build dofollow link on targeted keywords.. if you will do comment posting in blogs which are dofollow using your keyword in name. you can get benefit of it..

keep in mind while doing comment posting, add value to blog through your comment.

it is time consuming yet it is worth of doing when you know how to do it well...it gives a good backlink and even traffic...depends on how you do it...make sure your comment is not a spam one..coz if its one, then your comment will just be deleted..and thats you can consider a waste of your time..:D

    Two thoughts:

1). If you can find a relevant blog that does have dofollow links (getting rarer), absolutely worth spending the time to post a comment (not a one liner, but something that actually adds to the discussion). First, it will create a valuable link for you, and second you will create exposure and brand awareness for you website.

If other people reading the blog are interested in your comment/content as well--hense posting on relevant blogs--they may visit your site and actually blog about you. Thus you create a bit of a viral campaign.

2). If the blog is relevant but has nofollow links, you can still find individuals you think your content is good and will blog or link to you, creating the same viral effect. Only their links will likely be dofollow.

If blog commenting is done with the sole motto of link building, then it is really waste of time. But ya, if you are on a dofollow blog and reading the articles, and find the articles worthy to post the comment, then it is great because it would be definitely welcome by the author as well as it would give you some good backlink

It is one way to build links, but it is certainly not the only thing that you should be doing. Try a combination of things in order to increase backlinks.

There are many dofollow blogs out there. It's just you have to know how to search for them. :) I guess, sharing how to search dofollow blogs would increase spam on such good dofollow blogs and that's why I prefer not sharing the technique of searching dofollow blogs. I have the sure shot technique of searching high PR dofollow pages on blogs or forums. But I don't spam on them. I use them wisely and appropriately. Such sites are rare and are diamonds in today's internet. So I'd like to see them beautiful.

It can be used for link building for sure, unless you are professional and still know how to communicate and comment so that your comment compels the blog owner to approve your comment.:)

It's time consuming, but if you know how to dig out the dofollow high PR pages from the blogs, then you can surely find out how useful commenting on such pages is than commenting on UNRANKED pages like this one here. :)

Forum posting yields results after we post a good number of posts with sig links, while just one link from even PR1 page of a blog can yield results for you. But for most, it is difficult to find such high PR pages, so the time equals for both. Forum posting or blog commenting takes more or less the same amount of time in achieving the results for link building.

I feel your time in link-building is best used in other ways. However, if you have a list of quality blogs that have do-follow links and low number of external links, then comment on them as long as its relevant and doesn't seem like spam.

I actually thought that I read somewhere...wish I could remember where that it does not really matter if the blog is a dofollow or a nofollow. Google really doesnt pay much attention to this when it comes to backlinks. But, Im not sure.

The way I look at it is if I can post a comment on a blog in my niche with a link back to my blog, it is another source for traffic to my blog. Im not saying that its going to bring in hundreds of visitors, but each person that clicks my link is a potential customer

One kind person (Dont wanna mention the name) seeing this post PMed me that Blog commenting is worth and is one of the effective SEO techniques. He not only said, but also shared his web url.

Upon verifying the backlinks more that website has 39K backlinks most of them from blogs (related/unrelated). The website is ranking good for that specific keyword and gets 700 UV per day...

So guys it is no more waste of time. If is effective method, I have proof. Any thoughts?

i do blog commenting only for links diaversity. if you get all your links form forums or directories that looks suspision to the serp. so it`s a good idea to mix all methond even if some of them dont work well.
