Blog commenting can be regarded as spam by the admins of the site, in fact many admis just disregard all comments with a link because they have a hard time trawling through hundreds of posts to find any genuine ones, but if your post stands out, is relevant and adds value, then it will be welcomed

If you are leaving thoughtful, interesting blog comments, then no it is not spam.

Make it worth your and the bloggers time.

I genuinely comment on a lot of blogs and a lot of YouTube vlogs, which is I guess why my YouTube profile has gained pagerank 4 without even myself noticing.

If it is relevant, it is perfectly fine. I find it unacceptable to post "crap" on a blog just so you can advertise on it. Just post relevantly and webmasters won't delete your posts or nofollow comments.

In my opinion search engines don't care the content of your comment or the ways you used for approving your comment of blogs. Its only needed that you comment on quality blogs and then search engines will effect it for ranking your website.

If you praise with common words for an article, and the blog owner thinks that you have not to do anything from his posting, then certainly it is spamming. They will not approve your comment if you did not write any thing that proves your reading.

I would think its spam. Google looks for websites that are natural and get links slowly from other good websites

My blog comments seem to weigh in nicely. But they are always related to the topic.

this is the offpage (link building ) technique, diversity of link important to rank, avoid the backlinks only one website or blog, try to get backlinks from different different domain.
