Is "blog" after a name valuable?

Eg. Say I want to register a site about cars

How much better is it to register carblog.com, in comparison to a non "Blog" at the end, eg. hotcars.com or car-articles.com or cartalk.com or carforum.com. How does carblog stack up against these? In general, if I buy a premium XXXXBlog.com domain is it considered to have a high value?

    Thank you for your help.

Carblog, CarFoum, CarTalk all valuable IMO.

It really depends on the keyword. Getting something like ScienceBlog vs MicroOrganismReproductionBlog is no competition. If it's a strong searched keyword followed with blog and you develop it into a knowledgeable blog... I'd say it can be worth something. I currently have a parked KEYWORDblog.com domain that gets 200+ uniques without even developing it.

Thanks for your reply! I've bought a pretty good domain (Imo). I will post it in a new thread here for an appraisal tomorrow.

As far as second words go I think 'blog' does quite well if it fits the first word.
There are thousands of blogs out there and more every day.
