I just saw a post about this, and I'm considering investing in Microsoft. Do you guys think this is a good idea? I feel that Bing's traffic may really surge when Google finally shuts its doors in China.
I think...It's not a Traffic Increase to Bing, but rather a Decrease Traffic to Google. Bing is still on its Traffic...
Google wont shut its doors in China. China is too big a market to ignore for it can make millions of dollars per year for Google. Google will keep saying things and creating news and China Govt will also keep saying things and creating news but nothing will happen either side. So Google will remain in China just has always been.
I find it interesting that Google is shutting it's doors basedon human-rights violations yet Microsoft says "Doesn't bother us! We're staying!".
I'm positive that Bing's traffic won't skyrocket. Maybe go up a little higher, but I doubt it'll be from Google closing their offices in China. Isn't their that one Chinese search engine that's used more anyways? I don't remember the name of it... Yugo,
I doubt they will close services at china. May be its just a media hype and to get more users into google
It is Baidu... and yes surely, it is the number one in search segment in Chinese market! Bing would surely benefit from Google's withdrawal but I doubt very much if it will see any substantial rise in its usage... The increase would be minimal, if at all! Regards, RightMan
If that were true then you're also saying the government of China is in on the hype cause they're saying the same thing. Do you believe that?
Bing could have a little more but still have another threat - Baidu. Baidu results is not good compared to Google or even Bing but it does not matter since Chinese peoples do "love" it.
I don't think traffic will increase in Bing. 95% people in china using Baidu for their search purpose.
I doubt if Bing can make inroads in search in China. Bing/MSN has not made much progress in grabbing much search traffic. I think thier current SE is an improvement but I just cant see the phrase google that being replace with bing that unless bing does a lot more in trying to brand their new search engine. The occasional ad on television is just not going to cut it.
Ya there will be a little bit increase in traffic but that would be only from one country and that is not gonna affect Google much. - Mr.President -
Definitely, traffic increased but in a little amount, it is negotiable in comparison of google. there is no affect on google of this.
Google shutting down China ops is probably another US attempt to provoke China and raise hostilities. I think there will be no change to Bing's traffic from China.
It is an interesting topic to see if google will pull out of china or not. It's got to be a tough call for google to decide what to do. Who knows what the whole google / china situation is either.
Google is ranked #1 for most traffic, bing is ranked #8, they will never pass google, because i mean it's google right?, but they will hit #2 sooner or later
